A smile is definitely an accessory I wear daily so keeping it white has always been important. Whitening all started for me when Crest Strips became a thing but I didn't enjoy the process each time I stuck them on my teeth. The whole drooling on myself just wasn't a good look. The next technique I tried was actually going into a dental office where some sort of blocking agent was applied to my gums and then, I'm convinced, actual bleach was painted onto my teeth. It was the most horrific attempt at teeth whitening I've had and will ever experience. It was as if the bleach was being absorbed then catching a nerve resulting in extremely sharp pains that just made me cringe. This is something that I had to deal with for the following 48 hours. Listen, I am a women who has done and tried a lot of things and this took the cake for pain I don't ever want to experience again. Eventually I built up the courage to try out those blue light machine things that are in beauty clinics now and it was doable, pain free and produced OK results but I knew what I really wanted was to have an at-home kit. I already have fairly white teeth so all I really needed was something to maintain them here and there and doing it in the comfort of my own home is most appealing to me. I have been putting off biting the bullet to get impressions made at my dental office and all for good reason I suppose because I was later approached by a company called Smile Brilliant that offered everything I was looking for AND in the most convenient way. So Smile Brilliant is an at home teeth whitening kit that doesn't require a visit to the dentist to even get your moulds. Instead, you get a kit with two kinds of paste that you squish together then stuff into what looks like a mouth guard that you proceed to surround your teeth with. Once it hardens and you do both the upper and lower deck you just toss the guards into the envelop found in your kit and voila 2 weeks later you have moulds perfectly made to fit your teeth. Also in the kit are two two types of syringes: whitening gel and desensitizing gel. Just squeeze the whitening gel along the front of the impressions, hug them to your teeth and put on a flick. You can keep them on for half an hour to an hour. When you are done do a little rinse and do the same thing with the desensitizing gel and keep on for 5-15 minutes. Using this after whitening reduces the chances of re-staining the teeth, remineralizes small lesions, strengthens tooth enamel and significantly reduces tooth sensitivity which was the most important part for me. I use Sensodyne everyday because my teeth have gotten so sensitive especially with cold that it really ruins the experience of eating a lot even things like fruit. It sucks, but having this gel is a great bonus to this product that you don't get with any other treatment. It's about time I found something that works for me because going through another method after everything I've tried is basically a nightmare at this point. But check out how pearly white these chiclets are and from only using the product for 5 days!
