Le Chateau October

Dylanex Lennan Necklace, Le Chateau ankle booties
Who else makes black their cold season uniform? Fall essentials for me include booties, a leather jacket, and black skinnies. Mackage is my go to for leather because not only is every piece they create perfection but they are Canadian. When it comes to booties there are so many options. Suede is good for fall but the moment snow hits the ground they get put away.  Real leather is the best but again depending on weather I'm selective when I wear them to try and preserve the lifespan since chances are you spent a pretty penny on them. Finding a pair of faux leather is a must. These ones I scooped up from Le Chateau because they look great, they were a great price and super comfortable. The material may not be real leather but they don't look cheap either and the best part is they are the easiest boots to clean off and maintain. These are your essentials, they will be your most worn and the best bang for your buck and throwing them away at the end of a season or two won't make you feel sick because they didn't empty your wallet buying them. This look is simple so to break up all the black that's going on I decided to throw on Lennon. Lennon is a necklace by Dylanex, a line I discovered on instagram and AM OBSESSED WITH! The price tags are hefty, but these are truly pieces of work. Thank god I have a sisters that loves me enough to borrow it xx

If you are in the area and or know someone who is spread the word and let's celebrate together!! I'm actually looking forward to shopping their new fall collection, I've got my eye on one of their vests. Shoot me a message in the comments or flip me an email, marla@trendstruck.com, if you would like to attend and I will have a gift card waiting for you when you arrive. Not only that but Le Chateau is giving away a $250 shopping spree at the end of the day! Now let's take a moment to reminisce about all the amazing shoes I've scooped up from them this past year...

Dippity-Do Colorpop

blush hair powder, pink hair, world mastercard fashion week ss16
It's the tail end of World MasterCard Fashion Week and this season I teamed up with dippity-do to incorporate their blush Colorpop into last nights look. If you haven't heard of these before you are in for a treat. Colorpops are temporary hair powders that are easy to apply and shockingly easy to remove as well. I've secretly always wants to play with colour in my hair so I was really excited to give them a go. Dippity-do offers several options for colours from bright pops to metallics to soft pastels which have been trending huge lately.  I felt last night was appropriate to rock some colour in my hair since Mackage was showing and it's always edgy and with Pink Tartan on right before it made the choice of going with blush a no brainer. Since using these was my first attempt I headed over to Ritual to have my best friend/hair god, Shayla Marie, complete the task. Shay has worked with similar products in the past and actually quite liked how powdery and light weight these ones were. I have heard hair chalks can be stubborn to get out but to my surprise it's now been 24hrs and I got it out with ease. I'm sure it's easier to remove the pastel colours over the more vibrant hues but I can confirm that with you guys if I ever get daring enough to go to that end of the spectrum. For this look we styled my hair first, applied hairspray then went in to apply the colour. A few great styling recommendations from Shay were to give the coloured strands a comb through to soften the hue (if that's the look you are going for) then setting it with a spritz of hairspray to avoid runoff onto other strands and to minimize the chances of you getting it on your clothes. The great thing about these is there is no right or wrong way to use them. It's like an outfit, you can style it to your taste. We started half way through the hair but some people like to take it straight from the root or just powder the tips and some even like mixing colours if you really want to get adventurous with it. It's coloured hair for crying out loud it's meant to be playful! If you were like me where you've deep down been wanting to try it out then I strongly recommend you just go for it. You can snag them at Wal-Mart for only $6.99 a shade. I had so much fun with it, I LOVED the outcome and I'm actually really pumped to try out more colours and ways of wearing it!

White After Labour Day

To be honest there aren't many rules in life that I like to follow so it shouldn't be a surprise to hear that when it comes to fashion I don't listen closely to the 'how to's' and the 'don't do's'. I mean sure I'll take them into consideration and if I feel inspired I'll follow but for the most part I'm just going with what makes me happy or feel good. So for example, ya that whole faux pas of wearing white after labour day? Like seriously who even made that a thing? I call that person unadventurous! Yes this outfit is still very summer for this time of year but whatever sometimes we still get a couple scorchers before fall actually sets in so I'm gonna wear what I feel like on those days, ok? Aside from this outfit I l-l-l-oooove white worn with soft greys or creams for fall and winter. Those looks are literally my season favourites. We quickly jump to dark colours or even all black as soon as the cold weather hits but when we switch up those days with a light palette my goodness it's refreshing and pretty. In conclusion do what you want but I recommend not being shy with the whites. Happy Thanksgiving y'all xx
