Fashion Challenge / Value Village Finds Day 4

A couple months ago Value Village sent me to one of their newly opened locations in Markham to do some shopping. If you haven't seen any of my Value Village fashion challenges before you can check them out here and here. In the past I would give myself a budget to style a look from head-to-toe but his time I decided I wanted to find single pieces to style with what was already in my closet. Today I reveal the final look, look 4.

Today's piece is this watercolour blouse that I scored for $5.99. For starters you can never have to many blouses. Whether you wear them buttoned up for work or left undone to wear overtop of tanks for a more casual setting there will always be moments for a blouse. What obviously attracted me to this one in particular was the purple water colour print that's become popular.  Since wearing a blouse in a professional setting is expected I decided to casual it up with my denim vest and a pair of short shorts. Reworking my closet and pairing things with pieces you wouldn't think to wear together is my favourite challenge every morning that I get dressed.  I encourage you to do the same.

Fashion Challenge / Value Village Finds Day 3

A couple months ago Value Village sent me to one of their newly opened locations in Markham to do some shopping.  If you haven't seen any of my Value Village fashion challenges before you can check them out here and here.  In the past I would give myself a budget to style a look from head-to-toe but his time I decided I wanted to find single pieces to style with what was already in my closet.  Today I reveal look 3.

Today's VV thrifts are a crochet sweater that I got for $7.99 and this medallion necklace for $1.99.  This light knit sweater is perfect for every day especially this time of year.  As much as I love bright colours for summer, pairing light neutrals like white, cream and taupe has got to be my favourite combination.  The look is fresh, clean and will always be classic.

Fashion Challenge / Value Village Finds Day 2

A couple months ago Value Village sent me to one of their newly opened locations in Markham to do some shopping.  If you haven't seen any of my Value Village fashion challenges before you can check them out here and here.  In the past I would give myself a budget to style a look from head-to-toe but his time I decided I wanted to find single pieces to style with what was already in my closet.  Today I reveal look 2.

Some of you are going to love it and a lot of you are going to hate it.  Today's VV find is this sweater (if you can call it that).  Black and white leather blocks were stitched together to create pure awesomeness.  It was my sister that pulled it from the racks with a smirk on her face and while at first I felt unsure the other half of me thought 'well if anyone can pull it off it's me'.  When I tried it on I said if it's under $8 I'll buy it.  My sister reached for the tag and said "$7.99".  Let's be serious monochrome is still hot on the fashion scene and while this may not be your average piece you would find in the store you can't deny it looks pretty sick styled as an athletic look as I did.  Love or hate I'm glad I had the courage to bring this piece home with me!

Fashion Challenge / Value Village Finds Day 1

A couple months ago Value Village sent me to one of their newly opened locations in Markham to do some shopping.  If you haven't seen any of my Value Village fashion challenges before you can check them out here and here.  In the past I would give myself a budget to style a look from head-to-toe but his time I decided I wanted to find single pieces to style with what was already in my closet.  Over the next four posts I will reveal a few pieces that I picked up on my latest VV adventure.

Day 1: Today's Value Village find is this adorable printed sweater.  Cost: $6.99.  When transitioning into summer we have some cooler days mixed in with warmer temperatures so pairing up a pieces to accommodate both can be a popular mix for this time of year.

It's a Trend Thing / The Midi Skirt

New lengths have been hitting the fashion scene and I find it refreshing especially since mini skirts are about to flood the streets.  I introduce to you the midi.  She likes to sit below the knee and above your ankles.  If your feeling like it might be too conservative for you just slap a crop top together with it so you don't feel so covered up.  Use your imagination, tap into your personal style and I know you can turn out something unreal.  My look that I styled today is quite fancy, in fact I wore it to Toronto Fashion Week last fall and I'm in love with it.  Leather, pleats, lace there is so much amazingness happening in this look.  Just don't get hung up on the midi only looking dressed up because you can tone down this trend.  Head over to my Facebook page for more inspiration on how to wear the midi skirt.  If your convinced check out my shopping picks below!

Outfit of the Day / For Like Ever

Well it appears that summer is being a bit shy this year and refusing to share it's warmth, so unfortunately I'm still stuck rocking layers each day.  To lighten things up I've at least done some swapping of colours by opting for neutrals like ivory, cream and beige rather than black and grey.  With it now being May I've officially thrown my hands up in defeat.  Last week I decided to book a last minute trip to sunny, hot Vegas to absorb as much Vitamin D as I possibly can before returning.  And don't worry I will try my absolute best to bring the heat back home with me.  To follow my Vegas adventure you can follow my instagram.
