The Brand Collaboration Trend

Today's post isn't discussing a current style, print or colour that's trending instead I'm gearing it toward brand collaborations that are popping up like crazy between stores and high-end designers, celebrities and bloggers. These genius forces have been uniting for a while but it's reached a point where they are now the norm and I personally am not getting tired of them. I thrive on finding out what the next partnership will be then eagerly await for the much anticipated collection release to see the goods! To give a quick run down on brand collaborations it's H&M who has really been the leader with this trend from the release of their exclusive Karl Lagerfeld collection back in 2004. I know I can't believe that's ten years ago either! Since then they have teamed up with other big brands like Stella McCartney, Victor & Rolf, Roberto Cavalli, Comme des Garçons, Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, Versace, Marni, Alexander Wang that was just released yesterday and SO many more! Other stores jumping on this train is Target who has worked with Altuzarra, Missoni, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung and Phillip Lim. Topshop released collections with Adidas, Christopher Kane, Kate Moss and soon Beyonce. The reasoning for all the hype of this trend is simple: high-end brands mixed with high volume affordable stores create accessibility to the general public. And just like that all our dreams have come true. We have Lanvin gowns hanging in our closet, Altuzarra on our shoe shelf and Alexander Wang as workout gear! Bloggers are also getting in on the mix like the super popular Blonde Salad teaming up with Steve Madden. Even our very own eLuxe here in Canada is teaming up with bloggers regularly to design capsule collections because intimate relationships are being built with bloggers who are essentially a brand in themselves!
So what does all this talk have to do with today's style post? Among the many collaborations McQ has teamed up with Puma for AW 2014 and I got my hands on a pair, thanks Puma! Puma has worked with Alexander McQueen in the past but decided to switch the collaboration over to McQ. With McQ being a brand heavily influenced by streetwear it was organic to collide on a trainer relationship and with Puma already in the mix the switchover was effortless. On that note I chose these super cute kicks called the Rush Lo in Veiled Rose that are perfect for everyday! I've paired them up with my new faded jeans from Gap's fall Black Denim Collection and this super cute tee that my friend came across while on vacay (that's a good friend right there)!
In the comments section below tell me what you think of brand collaborations and which one got you most excited xx
