Colour of the moment...

Last month I focused on my favourite colour of the season, oxblood.  This month I chose eggplant.  A bit similar to the last but rather than a brown undertone we have a more feminine purple undertone.  This colour brings warmth to any outfit for the fall/winter season and I'm in need of finding my fix to implement this trend into my winter look.  Whether you choose to wear it on your feet to your clothes to your nails it's quite a versatile colour that can be worn with a great variety.  Nothing beats a great colour that's easily introduced to the rest your already existing closet!  How are you wearing the colour of the moment this season?

Change room diaries

Here is what I have learned recently: I have so many pants/leggings and not enough tops/sweaters.  I keep finding myself being easily attracted to funky leggings which I may add are easiest to wear with winter booties!  These shiny guys are amazing.  Although they may remind you of skiers who are super hard core about their sport they can also be worn for those of us who are more adventurous with our fashion sense.  Don't be shy!  Plus, dual purpose people!  I may wear these on the streets but I also enjoy the slopes and it looks like I know what my get-up will consist of when that time comes!

More sweaters - get used to it!  I hate the cold and plan on living in a sweater pretty much everyday so I say you can never have too many!  I love this one because of the large stripes.  Stripes will always remain classic no matter the season.  I really love cream and black together as well.  Perfect casual sweater in a good length that keeps that tush a layer warmer for winter.

Orange and pink are one of my favourite colour combos for some reason and that is clearly what drew me to this sweater.  I love this sweater because of the potential of how I see it being worn.  Because it's shorter in length it would look great with a collared blouse underneath or since collared accessories are super hot right now finding one that works well with this sweater will polish it off.  Unless of course you prefer simplicity in which this sweater looks great on it's own.

I love Club - yes we are on a first name basis.  The thing is each season a lot of their clothing changes ever so slightly from the previous season so sometimes we take a break from each other so that we get excited for our next reunion.  And that is exactly how my recent shopping trip went!  If I could I would have bought the entire store - actually I tried to.  Here's my confession to you:  I spent an hour and a half at the mall last week and within the final hour I actually went back three times to do three separate purchases because I felt I was going to regret walking away from a few things.  The worst part is, after all that I even went back 3 days later to do a fourth purchase!  WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME SOMETIMES!!  Merry Christmas to me I guess?  Anyway I'm not giving away everything I bought on these multiple visits, instead you can wait for outfit posts!!  Side note: I apologize for the lack of outfit posts but it is just so cold outside.
Back on task!  Below are a bunch of sweaters that differ in colour and style.  Some are best for the office, others are great for casual days especially the one with leather sleeves (love) and finally there is a poncho that is perfect for those days you just want to be bundled up in a {fashionable} blanket.  A poncho is definitely going on my wish list this year.  I'm not sure why I don't have one yet since I love them so much!
Visit my Facebook page tomorrow for the reveal of what came home with me from this weeks change room diaries.

What a nice complement...

Well I guess it's a fairly simple explanation as to why I love this combo.  If you followed my blog over the summer you would know I was a huge fan of pastels and this look is a perfect way to transition the trend into fall.  Pastels are still on trend but I now prefer them in smaller doses and something like this coral scarf is that perfect bit of accessory to do just that!  Wearing coral with brown really creates a season appropriate outfit.  We tend to turn to darker colours over the wintery months but playing with pops of colour should always be welcome to brighten the mood.
Aside from the lovely complementing colours in the inspirational picture above is the use of the scarf.  For myself personally, a scarf is my favourite accessory over fall/winter.  Whether you wear one to turn an outfit into one less boring, use it literally as an accessory piece to be the focal point of your outfit or heck just to keep you warm outside but still look fashionable, a scarf really is a versatile piece that should be a staple in your closet this season!

Spotted with oxblood

All summer I kept coming across these swirly Prada sunglasses.  Although I liked the look of them each time they popped up I never thought I would be able to pull them off.  Just over a month ago I was shopping and came across these knockoffs and decided to give them a shot.  And for the record as much as I believe in supporting designers you can't splurge on everything all the time, especially sunglasses since I lose or break them constantly.  Anyway I put them on and actually really loved them.  It's funny to me because when I think of round sunglasses it takes me back to high school when my favourite pair were massive white circles!  I'm pretty sure it's that vision that has kept me away from trying this style again for so long!  The other piece I really love in this outfit are the hand made patent leather loafers that I bought actually at the same time as the sunglasses.  They are so fun and shiny that they really spice up an outfit!

TIPS ON HOW TO WEAR IT
Due to the colours that embody this trend it's easy to incorporate it into our fall wardrobe.  I love polishing a casual look off with a great military style jacket, whether it's just a baggy green jacket or one with a more sleek shape and military-like embellishments.  Remember this isn't just about making sure you're wearing camouflage of some sort but keeping your look within the darker more earthy tones of greens, cream, brown and black however don't forget blue fits into this trend too!  If you are looking to wear this trend in a more dressed up manner then keep your eyes peeled for blouses or blazers that can make quite the impact.  Although this isn't the first time military styles have crept in for the fall season we will see some additions of combining other trends of the moment.  For example, I really love the jacket worn by the first blogger of My Daily Style.  The leather sleeves update the military style jacket to a more modern look.  So how about you?  How do you prefer to wear this trend?
